Service Description

Sports massage is ideal for runners preparing for the Manchester Marathon in April. With the race fast approaching, training mileage, long runs, and race-pace sessions place sustained demands on the body, often leading to muscle tightness, fatigue, and increased risk of overuse injuries. In the final weeks before race day, sports massage helps improve mobility, flexibility, and range of motion, supporting efficient running mechanics and stride consistency. It also aids recovery by reducing muscle soreness and stiffness, while improving circulation to deliver oxygen and nutrients to working muscles and assist the removal of metabolic waste products. Regular treatment during marathon preparation can help prevent common running injuries by addressing muscle imbalances and restricted movement, particularly in the calves, hamstrings, quadriceps, hip flexors, glutes, and lower back. These areas are heavily loaded during high-mileage training blocks. For office-based runners training for the Manchester Marathon, sports massage is especially beneficial in relieving postural tension caused by prolonged sitting, helping to offset tight hips and lower back strain while supporting recovery between long runs. As April approaches, incorporating sports massage into your training plan can support both physical readiness and mental confidence, helping you arrive at the start line feeling prepared, mobile, and race-ready.
